IGS 4k vs 4k

I was 1d on IGS 8 years ago. But, after 8 years on zero playing, I have forgotten most. I started back up on IGS couple of months ago and trying to get back to where I was. It was tough even at 7k level. But, after 60 games or so, my thought process seems to be improving.

The reason for dropping in skill level was probably due to getting 1d status mostly with tuturing and not with gazillion game experiences.

I would appreciate it if someone can comment on black's bad Haeng-Ma.

I did regret playing 95.

Well, white's haengma is a lot worse than black's... You were really outplaying this guy IMO. Of course it's much harder to learn things from your wins than to learn things from your losses. That said: some comments.

Please don't ever play moves like 59 and 97 again! They are BAD aji keshi and you gain ABSOLUTELY NOTHING from them.

57, 59, 61, and especially 63 are all really small. Much better to take the empty corner immediately.

When taking these empty corners, consider playing 3-4 rather than 4-4. The 3-3 invasion in the bottom left was kind of painful for black, and could have been prevented by just playing 3-4 instead.

103 and so forth defend a useless (ie. not cutting anything) stone that's stuck to a wall. It already kind of completed its work and should now be considered dead for the time being. Rescuing it will not do you any good.

After move 148 you can destroy white's left side (of course, you were winning then anyway...). I'm sure you can find the moves if you look for them. Common endgame tesuji.

These are something my teacher would yell at me. :( I'm glad you did in his place. With my absence in go for 8 years, a lot of 7k moves have come back.

Thanks for the comments. I really need to find some time and go back to my teacher for lessons.

Left side = corner bent 4. :) But, there is no need to kill. ;)

Also, any time after move 149, R8 will eat some white stones. And after 168, it kills.

Edit: Oh, I think Gaius meant the right side, and was referring to this?
