Life In 19x19

So, I've been trying to get my girlfriend to play Go for well over a year now, and so far I've had little success. However, the past week has been a pleasant surprise since she has been far more willing to play. Why? I think she's finally starting to notice some improvement in her play.

Before, I could torch her easily with a 16 stone handicap. And now, I can't even beat her with an 8 stone handicap. This is more or less likely because of my... gentle nature and the fact that I allow some undoes. However, it doesn't take anything away from the fact that she is getting better.

If I don't watch out, she'll reach 1d before me!

You'll have better luck if you can find her another 20k to play with.

That's what I'd like to find, someone of 20k or so who will play with her regularly, but so far my search hasn't been so successful. Playing me only frustrates her 90% of the time since she can't compete with me. However, I think if she could find someone of her own level to play with she'd enjoy the game a lot more.

Though, if she also grasped the fact that she has to lose to win, we'd be going far too. <<
