Life In 19x19

What style of tournament do you folks prefer? We've had suggestions of keeping the same double-elimination format, or McMahon, in additon to my intended Swiss.

Double elimination is efficient, but the majority of the participants don't get to participate much.
Swiss takes longer, but people play more.
McMahon has the advantages of Swiss, but has multiple bands, with presumably multiple titles. That would mean not only an absolute winner, but also something like winner of the 1D-3D band, winner of the 1K-4K band, winner of the 4K-7K band, etc.

FWIW, upon reflection, I'm starting to prefer Mcmahon myself. If there is only one title in a Swiss, many people have nothing to compete for in the last few rounds.

What to vote

I just wanted to mention that double elimination does allow for a reasonable amount of participation. Everyone plays at least 2 games, and on average you play 4 games. The amount of games you play is a direct result of your own success, the more you win the more you play.

Regardless of what gets chosen, I want to thank Joaz for organizing!

Well, I had promised that we would try to adapt to people's schedules. Yours was an extreme case, being unavailable until October, but I gave it my best try.

I'm not aware of the differences between most of the different styles, but i like double elimination.
