q4Go

Over the weekend I've ported the old qGo (i.e. 1.5.x, not qGo2) sources to Qt4. The result is available at

git@github.com:bernds/q4Go.git

I've done this simply because I like qGo best of all the available clients, and I feel the qGo2 GUI is a step backwards. Qt3 is getting progressively less supported in Linux distros, so I decided to try whether it's possible to do such a port.

This should be considered alpha quality software. I've logged in on IGS and observed some games, and I've even tried playing some games on a locally running NNGS server, but I've not yet tried playing on IGS.

It would be nice to get qGo2's ability to play on Tygem and Wbaduk ported over. It was nice when I was on Linux to have a native client.

Thank you. I will follow this with great interest and probably try it out in the next week.

Hmm, I've never managed to create an account on any of these. I probably won't be working on this, but patches are welcome.

There's now a v0.2a release tagged in the repository. The changes are mostly under the hood; I've converted more parts to Qt4, using qGo2 code in some parts. I've also fixed a number of bugs that crept in during the conversion, and some which have always annoyed me in qGo (e.g. game titles of observed games not showing properly).
