.Fix fault if open game larger than 19x19

Anybody know who posted the following comment on the Android Market (I would like to help them but the Market does not give me any way to contact them. Remember: email is your friend for support. )

Great app, but can't view comments The game playing interface is great, it's great being able to make dgs moves on my phone. But please make it display the opponent's comments! I have running conversations with some of my opponents and so I always have to go back to the web site to see if I missed a comment.

(My response: Comments are always displayed below the Submit button before making a move and can be answered by touching the comment area after making a move. They may not be visible without scrolling on some unusual screen dimensions.

I apologize for the recent frequent updates, The severity of the problem required a fast response and life issues reduced my available time for a complete shakedown. Thank you to those reporting the issues.

Version 1.36 is out and should be a stable release.

Here are some interesting user statistics from the Android Marketplace:

Code: Select all

com.hg.anDGS
1  English (United States)        38.4% (333)
2  English (United Kingdom)        8.9% (77)
3  German (Germany)                6.9% (60)
4  French (France)                 5.4% (47)
5  Russian (Russia)                5.3% (46)
6  Swedish (Sweden)                2.8% (24)
7  Japanese (Japan)                2.7% (23)
8  Spanish (Spain)                 2.5% (22)
9  Chinese (China)                 2.0% (17)
10 Chinese (Taiwan)                1.7% (15)

I don't have translation for some of these languages and the Chinese is a bit out of date, so if you would like to see any of these in your language (or can improve on what is already in anDGS) please PM me with an email address and I will send you the strings xml file for translation. All of the help screen text is in the file consisting of about 20kB of text. From this you will get to know all the features of anDGS and get your name added on the credits page.

Version 1.37 is out

User requested: Add a new "Server URL" preference to allow the client to connect to other implementations (private\development\etc) of the DGS server.

Provide a work around to a bug in Google code occasionally causing a fault on some versions of Android.

W00T! Thanks Michael! anDGS is still my favorite Android SGF editor, even if it's not GPL ;)

Mike, I tried it out and looks good. The only thing I still want from it would be handling markups on the board better.

For example, I get this SGF.

Move 20 makes no sense when I view it on andgs since it can't place the "A" character on the board.

Some day, if I ever decide to stop working on it or become unable to work on it I have everything setup to turn a switch and open the code.

hmmm, I don't see a link or an sgf. Maybe it is something I can easily fix.

Opening the link you provided on my phone, opened a page in the web browser, clicking the link for the game on that page opened the game in the anDGS editor, starting at the beginning and clicking through 20 moves, shows the letter "A" at the correct position! Zooming into to the location, you can see it easily.

Labels on board positions has been supported for a very long time (but the direct loading from the web page has been refined of the last couple of releases.)

However, the "A" is a bit small and hard to see on the full board. In the release where I first added labels, they were much bigger. I suspect some changes were introduced when I added board coordinates around the edge changed the scaling factor.

I will put enlarging the labels and trying to get a better contrast on my list for the next release.

been using it since the beginning and still love it. i know that before i mentioned some way of working in the coordinates, maybe as an option in view mode but not play mode? also, when i've downloaded a game it would be cool to have the moves numbered.
otherwise, thanks again!

I see it now. It is quite small on my screen. It probably needs to be scaled with the stone sizes.

Version 1.44 was just uploaded to the market and my website, it seems to take the Android Market a couple of hours to make new version available.

- Fix Editor long press forward/backward to stop at the position with branches instead of the position before the branches.

- Fix Editor annotation label scaling for better readability.

- Improved board coordinate preference to allow different settings for Play and Edit.

- Added basic color theme preference.

I will add a couple user requested themes after January, use my Color Tester app (also just uploaded) to find the text and background color settings you like and then email the values to me.
