how to catch a rank bot? they dissapear so quickly! ^ ^
1-2 seconds for 7-4k (aya, gnugo, postneo…)

Short term: Be faster
Long term: get enough people to complain to KGS admins so they allow more ranked bots.

Maybe use automatch select only robots?

try watching the "open games" tab (is that the name?) -- then you can select a bot regardless of which room its in

also, you could fan them so that each time they're available, the fan tab will light up

10 minutes doesn't seem like a very long time to wait. maybe their all busy. sometimes it takes other players longer than 10 minutes to finish their games to free up a bot.

Are you trying to get a rank or play a robot? Because there's another option...

problem (not real, but i'm seriously curious ))) is… i can't start game with bots coz in 1-2 sec someone else always (almost. 98%) a bit faster than me. i see invitation in «open games», but situation is: games list refreshes, i see pretty good bot, "yes! hello, dear Aya!", one move to select this game, one move to «ok» button and "…accepted another challenge", arrrr! )))

in this 10 min i saw at least 3-4 new invitations in «open games»…

Or limit the ranked games a player can play against a bot to X per day.

Tip: Watch the game of the bot you want to play against, and get ready when the players pass.

I don't think that it is the admins that are holding back the number of bots. I could be wrong, but I think that anybody who seems honest who wants to run a bot is allowed it. It's a question of how many people are willing to leave their machine running the bot all days long, and how many bot authors are willing to give away their programs so that other people can connect them to KGS.

The number of non unique ranked bots is limited. And since there aren't too many different bots the number of ranked bots in total is effectively limited. For example I don't think somebody wanting to host a ranked gnugo would get approved.
But I don't want to derail this thread further, we already had a thread where we discussed this.

I asked if I could run a ranked Fuego bot on KGS, and was rejected because I am not a Fuego developer.

Well, I stand corrected. For a second time. Sorry about that.

Obviously a lie. We all know that wms rules KGS with an iron fist and all decisions are his personal doing. Just like Steve Jobs.

i'm just curious about mechanic of this system: how can someone play 5 games in a row against R-bot and why i can't do same stuff. tryin' to find my own blind spot
