Fantasy go league: the poll

Sorry to start a new thread, I think it's the only way to make a poll. Personally I'm leaning towards #3, but I would be happy with any option.

I think thats not how fantasy leagues work (from what I know, please correct me if I'm wrong). Every pro is getting assigned a value reflecting their strength. For example Gu Li could cost 5 points while Tan Xiao would only cost 1 or 2. Every player gets a fixed amount of points to buy a team from. And also the selected teams from players and their selected players are not facing each other off directly - games and their results come from the real world. So one does good in selecting players which get to play often. Players who are in a lot of title leagues in japan would be a good I guess.lindentree wrote:Will the league be based on a selected pro team's results over a year-long period? Or monthly?
With the Chinese and Korean league games being played regularly, I think you could also score points based on a pro's win/loss ratio for minor games. As an example, say I have Tan Xiao or some random Chinese pro and my opponent has Gu Li. Somehow Tan Xiao wins all his city league games, so I get X points for the year, while Gu Li loses all his city league games, but wins the Samsung and also gets X points for the year.
When I read your post again I kind of supected I was missunderstanding you. Sorry.lindentree wrote:I didn't mean that teams directly face off.
Certainly seems possible. As I understand that thread, each pro may be drafted by everyone, but some pros would cost more. I'm not sure how we would assign points though. One interesting idea from that thread: you also pick an anti-team, where you make points every time they lose!p2501 wrote:Why reinvent the wheel? The concept of Fantasy Leagues is not new.
I would suggest something liek this:

That sounds very reasonable.emeraldemon wrote:lindentree wrote:Will the league be based on a selected pro team's results over a year-long period? Or monthly?

I was thinking something very similar about the Japanese leagues (Kisei, Meijin, Honinbo). I think the more results we can use, the more interesting the league will be. If we include domestic events, I think we should either have rosters for each country (e.g. each player gets 3 Korean pros, 3 Chinese pros, 3 Japanese prose) or try to balance the points some way. You don't want to be forced into picking all pros from one country just because you can get more points from their domestic events.
