To me, the Korean team looks stronger than the Chinese this year. The other question is who'll place third, Japan or Taiwan. I don't have a guess there.

The Japanese team seems to rotate players in general. Also, Iyama Yuta has a busy match schedule in Japan (but so have some of the Chinese or Korean players). So far only Xie Yimin had good results from the whole Japanese team. Hmm.

Makes me wonder where Japan will be relative to Taiwan in ten years. They're close, but Taiwan has beaten Japan 3 years running now.

I think they're close to level already, and have been for the last few years. Some of the best Nihon Ki-in players of the last 15 years have been Taiwanese.

True.
But I meant player who competes in Japanese professional tournaments, not Japanese natives. Unfortunately the term is ambiguous.
