I thought I would stop in for a brief introduction...
I'm a long-time go fan, but never a serious player until recently. I just stumbled across the forums this evening and hope to learn a lot from everyone in the community!

Howdy, and welcome. Always good to have more Texans around. No idea where Martindale is, though. See you around!

Welcome! The game in your avatar is one of my favorites

. For those wondering, it's Honinbo Shusai vs. Go Seigen in 1933. They say it was one of Shusai's students, Maeda Nobuaki, who found the tesuji marked in his avatar rather than Shusai himself...but that's just how the rumor goes anyways. Aside from his association with Shusai, he's also known for his tsumego (apparently having composed a problem a day for 40 years

).

I'm glad I'm not the only one that immediately id'ed this game.

First game I memorized, and definitely a good one.
Also, welcome to the forums!

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

South of Austin, outside of San Marcos.

That's quite a commitment to create one daily. I've been looking for a set of Nobuaki's Tsumego that I know is out of print but I haven't had any luck (but I also haven't been looking terribly hard).

It's a classic game for a reason, I probably wouldn't have recognized it immediately, though. I need to work more on memorization of strong and important games
