I just thought it was worth mentioning that you still have a few days to nominate yourself if you wish to run for AGA board.

Feel free to PM me if you want my opinion related to anything regarding the board, if you feel more information would help you make a better decision about whether to run or not.

Has there been a big increase in the number of candidates this year? I don't remember so many contested elections in the past.

There hasn't been this many candidates on the slate at the same time since I started paying attention.

I think it's a good thing, more competition ought to increase quality...

My recommendations, for what it's worth, are:

* Edward Zhang (at large)
* Gurujeet Khalsa (Eastern) (L19 member gurujeet)
* Lisa Scott (Central)
* ...and you guys on the west coast are on your own.

If you have a preference, talk to your chapter representative-- small chapters are weighted disproportionately in the voting system, so you can have an unduly large influence. :)

Thanks Daniel, I appreciate the endorsement (if only you could vote in the east). And vash3g I understand supporting from your own club. :)

Happy to hear suggestions from L19 folks on what they would like to see from the board and answer any questions, especially if you don't know me from club and tournament games in the mid-Atlantic area. My particular passion is growing the base of membership by overcoming the barriers to entry that beginners who get exposed to the game have. I think there is a lot the AGA can do there by coordinating better the efforts of its many enthusiastic volunteers. Suggestions welcome!

How about getting information about the results of the AGA's pro qualifiers out to the public?

I sent a note to the e-Journal asking what's up. I noticed the AGAGD database has been unavailable for weeks now. Anyone know what's up with that?

From June 12 EJ: Due to some technical issues, the American Go Association Go Database (AGADB) is currently offline. The AGA Ratings Database is still online and updated through June 3. We apologize for any inconvenience and will keep you updated about when the AGAGD will be back online.

There is an issue that needed to be addressed. It was easier to take the AGAGD offline than to keep it up. When it is properly fixed it will return. Sorry boys.

As Thomas Hsiang is no longer in the running for the East Region. We will be putting our weight behind Gurujeet Khalsa. I hope he does well as the next board member.

Kind of unrelated, but does the AGA have an official color scheme?

I feel like a different choice of colors for the website could make it seem more lively...
