Komoku Kosumi popularity

Among pros recently, especially in the LG cup. I've seen alot of players playing Komoku with low approaches, and answering the low approach to their komoku with another low approach to a komoku. It has a nostalgic feeling. In some of the cases, the response move is 2 space high pincers and complicated battles. Here are some examples of the opening I'm referring to.

The above games constitute the pincer, fighting approach. Below I have attached some surprising games with the old kind of kosumi. In one of the games, the leaning variation popular during shusaku's era is played aswell
The kosumi makes a return, or does it? That's what this thread is about really. Both players who use kosumi end up winning. (Also, Lee Changho is doing better these days! Hurray!)
