I'm just curious. How many online go accounts have you had? I've had 7 on 4 servers, 5 of which are still active. I guess there are plenty of reasons to make new accounts, from increasing one's anonymity to experimenting with certain concepts to trying to pretend that you're not the guy who plays such stupid moves, but it does strike me as a peculiar phenomena that one would create several identities all of which do basically the same thing.

I have three accounts on KGS. "tj86430" is for quick games (usually 10 mins), "TimoJ" is for normal games (usually 30 mins or thereabouts) and the third one is for playing while under influence of alcohol.

I could have said 15 or more, because its true, but in reality, I really only use one account at a time, per server, so its 3 (kgs, igs, oro)

On KGS I have the four accounts strawman (my original IGS name), straw (my original NNGS name), Vegetarian (my original KGS name) and DrStraw (my admin account on KGS), all of which I have played with for a long time, but not for at least two years now. I also have two accounts there I occasionally play a game with - maybe two or three times a year. These days I mostly play with my DGS account and my ORO account. I guess that means 8 currently active, but I have had many more on other servers over the years so the total is way more than 15. I checked 8 in the poll.

Five. KGS, DGS, abandoned OGS, long abandoned and little used second KGS account, long forgotten IGS game-watching account.

3 KGS + 2 OGS + 2 Tygem + 1 IGS + 1 wbaduk = 9

I have one account each on KGS and WBaduk, SoDesuNe. I used to have an account on Tygem, I believe it was SoDesuNe aswell (maybe SoDesuKa), but I cannot connect to Tygem anymore, so I consider it dead.

I tried to make a secret account for Blitz-playing practice, but then I thought, why don't I do so with my main account? I'm not so obsessed with ranks and either way I always hate to lose ^^

But okay, I can understand it, when you kind of famous with your account and don't want to have >300 people watching every experimental game.

I have had a lot of kgs accounts. I've only had one tygem account. I have one account on a couple of other servers, but I rarely play on them. In total, I'm sure I've made more than 15.

One on KGS, one on IGS and one on Oro. I used to have some other accounts on KGS, but they are expired.

6 accounts: 4 KGS accounts, but it turns out I am only able to actively use two of them, one for serious games and another one to experiment with (which I use seldomly). Then I have one on IGS and one on WBaduk.

I only use my KGS DuskEagle account, but I also have a KGS chat account, a KGS bot account, and an IGS account that I don't even remember the username for, as I've never actually used IGS. I'm sure I could find the IGS username somewhere in my email inbox.

I have about 8 KGS accounts ranging from 2d - 6d, but most between 4d - 5d. The ends of the spectrum are due to accounts where I do very specific things, such as only blitz or only san-ren-sei or only donk openings, etc. and the 4d - 5d accounts are the ones where I just play normally.

Over the 4 years I've played on KGS I think it's safe to say I've amassed over 70 accounts (most of which expired), to not only segregate them to try different things like I do now but also to bypass rank solidification because after a certain point (number of games) it just becomes too hard to budge the rank one way or the other. It also helps greatly with dealing with losing streaks; once I lose x number of games consecutively on one account, I just hop to another account and it helps put my mind at ease.

I also have accounts on Tygem, WBaduk, IGS, GoShrine, OGS, DGS, and others.

On KGS I have 7 accounts. I also have 1 on IGS 1 on Oro and 1 on TYGEM
