Longest game you've ever played?

I'm in a game at OGS that is now in move #441. I've captured 121 stones thus far; my opponent 32. (It's a truly awful game; I haven't resigned in disgust only because at this point I want to see if my opponent will call it quits before it literally becomes impossible to move.)

What's the most moves you've ever had in a 19x19 game?

Maybe it is a Bot, I think some Bot's play it out because they skimp on implementing endgame counting. Though I think that at some point you should be able to have everything pretty much solid and should make some profit by waiting it out, IE not filling in your territory or giving your opponent stones.

On another note I have often wondered what are the expected lengths of games what are the expected length until resigning and also what is the lowest scoring winning games. I have played games where I have won with as little 36 points.

No, it is definitely a human and not a bot. Bots don't post game invitations. :)

It wasn't me, but I saw a guy play a game on KGS against a bot with (iirc) about 32,000 moves. His strategy was to build a spiral so that ~180 of opponent stones are snaked round and then in atari, capture them and then repeat for ~179, ~178 etc. (Quick back of envelope calculation says sum of 1 .. 180 is 16k, double for 2 players gives 32k). I was impressed that KGS/CGoban didn't explode!

I'd be curious to see this game when it's done.

I mean the total captures+territory+komi, unless you actually had a whole board seki.

That makes more sense. Generally over the board you play territory - your own captured stones, and with large ko fights you can end up with a negative score. I don't think I ever did territory + captured stones except online where I don't pay as much attention since it's nice enough to show you the difference.

Here's a game I won with 25 points against 15.5 (OGS uses territory-captures like on-the-board Japanese):

Your comments on the game say something about a scoring error? What is the problem?

It had counted c1 (and maybe a1?) as dame, it's correct now. That problem was fixed years ago :)

Wow. I wouldn't have thought that even theoretically possible. Any chance you have an sgf?

Afraid not, it was many years ago. Maybe if someone else remembers his name we can find it in the KGS archives. I think it had a 'c' in it...

Pardon me, but I'm skeptical. That's really weird behavior even for a bot.

To believe that it happened, we have to believe that a bot
1) Manages to place ~180 stones without making a live group.
2) Continues to play even when tens of thousands of points behind.
3) Allows each side to make one contiguous group.
