SmartGo Kifu: How to use Pattern Matching?

How does one use the pattern matching feature that is supposedly included in the SmartGo iPad app? I can't work it out.
In upper left corner of the game information bar you will find a little Square next to the white stone. Press this button, than you can select the whole board or a certain corner for pattern matching.
At the moment you can only search for variations. You cannot use this tool for searching in the game database. But this feature is planned.
