I've moved house! So I'm ready for a new Malkovitch game.
The highlight of my new house is likely to be the shed. I've put my weights in there. It's currently for storage, but I'll reinforce the floor and lay electricty to it to set up a home gym. It'll allow me to squat, deadlift, military press, push press, do kettlebell swings and Turkish get-ups, and cause mischief with a 50kg sandbag.
Being strong will make stronger at Go. (Possibly...)
Anyway, Japanese rules, 6.5 komi and I guess nigiri. (I don't know how nigiri works wih one of these things.)

I went to a Yang Yilun talk a few years ago, where he laid out the idea of this opening for B:

Click Here To Show Diagram Code [go]$$Bcm1This looks like a thorougly good idea for B, so I play it quite a lot. (Of course, W quite often diverges from this.)
The direction of the approach at 7 is better than the approach at 5 - B is less low and has room to expand. So 7 is the direction B is really interested in. But it's worth playing 5 first as a probe. Then 9 is an excellent extension. B may get a big corner or a big side.
I assume this game is open book. I won't use any databases, though - I never hav used one, and I like to make my own mistakes.

You cannot assume that. Better to explicitly agree on what's open and what's closed.

Classic MW! I wonder who it will take for MW to not think he is the favourite, Lee Sedol?! I know winning in Go's not transitive, but lovelove crushed MW and drmwc beat lovelove. My bet on drmwc, and not a close game.
