Hello,

I am a 50 years old beginner (30-20 kyu) who discovered the game of go 25 years ago during his graduate studies, learned the rules and the basics but had no time to make progesses at that time. I have been redicovering the game since 6 months. As a researcher in Information Technology (signal processing), I am naturally interested in computer go, MCMC and MCTS methods. My progresses at the game itself have been (very) slow until now. I mainly play against bots : igowin pro, fuego, crazystones, smartgo on my Ipad or Gnugo, Patchi, Dariush, Orego, etc. on my Mac. I know I should play with humans -- plan to go on KGS soon). I have bought some classic books (J. Kim serie, Graded Go Problems for Beginners, Vol. 1 and 2, Elementary Go Series Vol. 3 and 4, ...), studied some Tsumego from various sources and began to have a look at pro games (on Smartgo kifu). My feeling is that Go is really a great (but hard) game that you can enjoy even at the beginner level. I am really glad to have the opportunity to join this community ! :)

Welcome, Pleiade67!

I’m *1957, so I’m even somewhat older – perhaps we should initiate an “Elder Citizens League: Triple Digit Kyu FTW”

Seldom online on KGS these days, but if you see me on Kaya, feel free to play me :-)

Greetings from Germany,

Tom
