I majored in Math in College.
now i want MS in Operations Research.
I realize that online course that i am taking now is easier than college course i studied.
But i am not single anymore and i have full time job...
I might need some help on my HW or Exam from others who studied math.
admin: is it ok for me to post questions asking for help?

Congratulations MW, this is great news!
I'm a firm believer in continuing education and also went back to school earlier this year to pursue another degree. (It's one reason I haven't been able to continue my journal here.)
I only minored in mathematics many years ago so don't think I can help you, but I will be rooting for you on the sidelines!
Best of luck and let's both do our best in our studies

I can't help you MW, but I do wish you the best of luck.
I did my undergrad in stats and operations research, and continued in grad school, although I focused more on stats there. But this was all a long time ago. I found some old homework last year, and hardly understood a damn word, anymore. If you did pure math as an undergrad, I doubt you'll find this too challenging. I always admired the pure math guys.

I considered going into operations research 40 years ago. Instead I pursued a PhD in math. I did not think that, after all these years, it still existed. I assumed it had been superseded by other things.

Common sense?

Sure. No problem at all. It is in the proper forum, and does not break the TOS.

but i would like to get A on take home exam...which will be end of this month.
i will surely ask for help there.

As a college professor I cannot condone this. Take home exams are always conducted on the honor system. It is assumed that you will not seek any help from anyone at all, in person on online. In the past I have reported students to the Dean of Students office for getting help on take home exams and disciplinary action has been taken. There is nothing wrong with asking for help with difficult material during the semester, however, which I was I had originally assumed you mean at the start of the thread.

I agree with DrStraw. I have no problem helping you understand the coursework, but an exam is meant to be a test of what you have learnt and can do on your own.

Why not just ask the professor if it's OK to ask for help?

Yes, of course if magicwand is allowed to get help for a take-home exam then that would be different.

I will ask my professor to make everyone feel better
