Famous Games as One-Color Go Games

One-Color Go is a lot of fun. I decide to play out a famous game using only white stones and it was an interesting (if confusing) experience. I thought I would share some of the fun by posting one-color versions of famous games. All snapshots are taken at move 67 because I wanted to be consistent and that move was significant in one of the games.

Mirror Go Ladder Game - Fujisawa Hosai (W) vs. Sugiuchi Masao (B) - Move 67 at B5
This bizarre game looks totally ludicrous in one-color form. Fujisawa Hosai was famous for playing mirror go as white. He does so in this game and then Sugiuchi Masao traps both sides in opposing ladders. In the end, black escapes from his ladder and this forces white to deviate from mirroring. Fujisawa sadly lost.

This is the game from the Appendix of "Lessons in the Fundamentals of Go" where Kagayama Toshiro discusses how he defeated the reigning Meijin in the Prime Minister's Cup. Considering how prominent the book is there is no doubt that thousands of people have studied this game through Kageyama's commentary.

9th Kisei, Game 4 - Cho Chikun (W) vs. Takemiya Masaki (B) - Move 67 at P4
While not amazingly famous in-and-of-itself, this game is an example of the famous Cho Chikun dual 3-3 opening being used effectively against Takemiya Masaki. This is an important point in Cho's book about the 3-3 point opening. Cho won this game by just half a point and went on to hold the Kisei title in a 4-3 series win against Takemiya.
