The brackets have been updated, sorry (again) for the absence - I had to conquer finals (and the GRE).

Is it only me who sees so many broken shapes in black's play? :-? Maybe I am too weak to judge... EdLee has pointed out in another thread that not every broken shape is bad, but in this game my gut feeling says that many of these broken shapes are bad.

I won by resignation against Daniel_the_Smith (lavalamp) in a hard-fought game.

If you really want to kill, a lot of times you have to make badly broken shape. This is part of why it's hard to kill stones: it takes an extraordinary amount of thickness in order to make the broken shapes strong enough that your opponent can't just rip through them. The broken shapes in Loki's game are pretty weak though, I don't think black is thick enough to prevent white from living easily.

78: I can only assume that it is reciprocal generosity that prevents O13.

9: If he pincers and I jump into the corner, I think B is left without a really good followup. If you block the top, the right stone looks silly; if you block the side, the right stone looks low. I think black's game move is correct.

78: I am perfectly happy if he connects: it's one less stone attacking my two weak groups. I'd rather not be split so easily

I won by by 16.5 against karaklis. It was a difficult (but fun) game with many ko fights and large scale trades, in which I think I was rather lucky to come out ahead.

I think that I got away with a couple of overplays in a game that I should not have won.

Am i missing something? According to the brackets at http://ywchoe.com/L19.html you're playing Remina (Araban) first, right?
