He is in Mamumamu ranking, which means he is active in Japan.

His record this year is 6-12, more games than I can see in go4go.net

I see in some Japanese article in Korean media that he was planning to stay for 3 months starting in April to study. That period would be about over now.

What I saw somewhere, I'm not sure where (and I was using the translation so it might not be accurate), was that he was studying in Korea in January and then planning this second trip in April. He and Sumire were studying at the same dojo with Shin Jinseo's teacher. I didn't catch the name. This plan of studying was said to have been proposed after Leo was praised in Korea last November after playing some unofficial games in a tournament there.

The translation is maybe fine to get the gist of headlines but sometimes not much else. However, I think the praise that was referred to can be found in this Japanese article: https://go.forumkaya.co.jp/korea-news/7172.html

The translation rendered it like this for me:
KBA President Han Jongjin(?) wrote:
I was curious about how good he was, but he seems to be the strongest among Korean fourth-graders of the same age. You can think of him as having the ability of a sixth-grader. If he sparred with a stronger opponent, I think his skills would improve significantly. I feel like I can sense the aura of world number one 9-dan Shin Jin-seo back then.

I wonder what his Hangul name is. If we are interested in following Leo and Sumire in Korea then we need to know their Hangul names

Maybe Sumire is 스미레, in full 나카무라 스미레, and Fujita Reo is 후지타 레오.

Reo is called 후지타 레오 (Huchit'a Reo) in Korean, and the teacher you are looking for is probably Han Chong-chin. He taught Sin Chin-seo at the famous Chung-am go school.

But with Reo's father rightly keeping the boy cocooned, you'll find little online except for forum chatter. I think the last significant mainstream news was in February. The boy's results are still below 50% but there are signs he may be turning the corner.

FWIW both Sumire and Reo keep saying their visits to Korea are simply because it's the Mecca for strong players. China is likewise "importing" many Korean pros to play in their leagues.

I assume you mean with regards to public exposure? Is that... a Kansai "slow living" thing? I like it, mind you, but the contrast with Nakamura's early career is striking.

Take care.

PS: FWIW, yesterday I visited my first Igo cafe. Lost one on 9H, won the other on even.

I saw on Kansai Kiin webpage that he has a game next week on the 28th. That means he is back from Korea. His opponent will be no other than youtube influencer and newlywed Mishima Hibiki. The playlist for her Go videos is https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPvibSlt36QHjYJMpAPRVzUSEC6rBYdPM. It appears to consists of some games between young pros.
