woppinger, based on my experience with Korean equipment, I would recommend you look for Japanese green stones. Just my opinion.

That is correct, but I think Sam Sloan owns Ishi Press Archives and rights to some books published by the original Ishi Press.
Here is an interesing post on old rec.games.go from 1996

Re: Ishi Press Archives - quality of reprints
Did you have a chance to see the original book? Maybe you were expecting too much if you didn't see the 1st edition.
Also, this can be the case (option 2):
Sam Sloan (who now owns rights to some old Ishi Press books) scanned an English 1st book edition,
worked a little bit on it and then print it ...

Re: How to Become a Dan
Re memorizing games, there were discussions about that method on rec.games.go,
and I was personally given that advice too.
I believe that was method used mostly by Japanese amateur players.
On rec.games.go, besides Roy L who wrote about it, I've found Motoyasu's ideas interesting - see below ...

Re: rectangular Japanese bowls
Thanks Vesa for correcting WAGC year, and for finding Korean rectangular bowls.
I can easily made those, and will probably do it in the future.
Thanks to all who responded to my question.

Re: rectangular Japanese bowls
Hi, thanks to everyone who responded.
Not sure how they might be called, but looks to me they are rectangular - see page 6 from Ranka Yearbook.
Definitely not boxes for shogi pieces, I have them and the box is much smaller.
And I've never see container for Go bowls separated, it's always for 2 ...
