Was that 6 July 2016? I downloaded and installed and got v1.01, the same as from 2016.

Re: Yilun Yang: The Fundamental Principles of Go

I second the recommendation for Yang's "Black Book." This book was recommended to me at the vendor's table at the 2010 Congress when I was 5k. I eventually also acquired his workbook series.

Yang says he hates memorization. His books teaches principals so the you can figure out a good play yourself ...

Go World commented on nearly 100 of his games of which 22 look to be at least five pages long.

Indeed, username 'darreII' (capital-i's instead of lower-case-L's) is not available.

If a 24 kyu registered 'Allah' and played honestly, yet ineptly, no one would really care? No one would think it disrespectful?

Well, you might be right. You might also be wrong. I am not confident that you are right.

Re: Self-appointed user name censors

Personally, I think the rules should ... not arbitrarily decided by a single member of the community. As you wish, I have arbitrarily decided that 'meat' may unsettle vegetarians and pre-emptively registered it. Now two members have registered a extra few names in addition to the 57,190 that have ...

Re: Self-appointed user name censors

I would like to suggest though that the decisions about what names are allowable be in the hands of the people who actually run KGS I dislike this suggestion. We are a community run by volunteers. Instead of complaining that somebody really ought to fix that, the anonymous censor took proactive ...

I am confused by the warning to others about the TOS... Charles was addressing the ideas being discussed and I do not see how the comment would lead to locking the thread.
I know you are fairly new to this board so I hope you will take my suggestion as constructive. When the original poster ...

Re: Positional Judgement 2 / Dynamics - Review by the Author

The fact that "conflict of interest" in its multifarious forms bleeds over into sectors where the voluntary ethic is supposed to predominate is no small thing.
Which is the greater danger to our go forum: conflict of interest by creators or bullying by the self-righteous?

The admin has no problem ...

Re: Positional Judgement 2 / Dynamics - Review by the Author

I, too, once thought a 'self-review' was ridiculous. Then one time I was researching books on a particular topic and remembered that Robert wrote one. I searched for a review and found only his self-review.

Of course, being a self-review I was entirely aware of the lack of objectivity. Of course, I ...

Re: Why are our instincts so bad?

By coincidence, I am reading a book that touches on this subject. The author talks about how psychologist Daniel Kahneman separates decision making into two systems - a fast, intuitive one and a slow, analytical one. While the analytical system may be the one used to choose the final decision, the ...
