Re: Robert Terry on "Why Go has Failed to Prosper in the US"
Another post. I like how he ends with "Another model must be put in its place. One based on cultural, sociological and economic reality. The ideas offered at www.GoWizardry.com are a start.". As far as I have seen, he hasn't proposed any real ideas yet, only insulted people.

They're trying to fatten you, soon you will wake up in a cooking pot.

Re: Studying Other Things
I find that often, whatever the subject I'm studying is, I do it better after not doing it at all for a while. This includes go. I think it's because you not only rest and let all that you learned sink in during that time, but you also come into the game with a new perspective. I stopped playing for ...

This is the board position before lunch today. The last moves were the 3-3 on top left, white block, and black hane.

Ooh, this is really cool. I wish I understood Japanese, it would be even cooler to hear the commentary.

Re: Depression and go
Kind of off-topic, but I've always wondered if there aren't any hikikomori who play all day and become high-dan players eventually.
As for me, go has helped me a lot during a time of despair. I was very apathetic to everything around me, and felt no sense of purpose, no reason to try anything. Go ...

You miss a snapback. Then again, I was playing at 2AM, so I should have expected to make some stupid mistake.

Just a thought, but
at C3 looks tempting to me. Of course there's still K2 for white afterwards, but I think that group is fairly stable. I might be wrong though, of course.

Re: 14 kyu against 7 kyu
What about move 220? I'm really iterested why you played that since it took you about 30 seconds to play this, because this is called a "Half point ko" and it's "gote", not counting "dame" and plays in your own territory: it is the smallest move you can make.
I'm guessing you misread something ...
