Re: Impossible to live?
As a tygem 7D I'm fairly certain the bottom black group can live. But I'd be more worried about the B group on the left.

Re: When you teach GO which rule set do you use?
I have a teaching method, but I don't explicitly teach the rules.
If they're complete beginners, I teach capture go. Then I teach first to capture 5 stones. Then I teach whoever captures more stones wins. Then I discuss passing and "territory." I use Japanese rules, but it really feels more like ...

Re: Silly Reading MIstake From Yesterday's Game
Black puts 5 stones into almost atari on the first line from the outside. Then you can either make a shortage of liberties on the outside group or gain a liberty to kill the right side white group?

Re: Anyone give a darn about go in the West?
Honestly there's just more action and chatter over at r/baduk. But I really did enjoy watching the US Go congress streams this year. I very much look forward to if I could attend next year.

I would dislike the shape since white still has weaknesses and is bordering on ippoji

With the high approach, if black takes the corner, white can play Q10 making miai of approaching the top right and blocking in the corner.

Other Go Forums?
I've recently stumbled upon this site: http://www.101weiqi.com/
It's a chinese site for Go with features ranging from problems, to game analysis, and forums.
It got me wondering if there were other major hubs/forums for go information in other non-english languages. Anyone have any information?

Re: low pincer, descent after attach
I would just answer at P18 and make miai of S17 and L17. But the variation you give is possible too. Hane at 6 directly is better as uberdude says. Because after the cut, W can descend to R18 to make better use of the corner aji.

That’s what I also “tried” and then I saw that this would not change anything here.
I believe it changes if white can give atari on the next move or not.

I think the best thing you can take away from this, is that if you're ahead, there's no reason to tenuki in this kind of situation.
Also, it's part of the game. If you learn to deal with it, you'll learn to get free wins. Same way ...

Re: Potential for improvement
The phrase I've heard often from pros is that "Anyone can hit 4-5D, but it takes something special to go further."
Personally, I don't believe in talent. But I do believe in accidents and lucky insights.

I play about 1-10 games everyday. But I almost always play at least one, usually more like 5.

Re: Age and the development of professional strength
I'm sorry, but can you explain what the vertical axis represents? I'm not quite clear what the "annual rating" refers to.
