Hi Herman,
Yes I have. It's just one contact person who hasn't responded to e-mail or phone. The club was home-based, so maybe it doesn't even exist anymore...

Looking for Go players in Haarlem, The Netherlands
Any players in Haarlem, the Netherlands who are willing to play occasional real-life games with a beginning Go player (but experienced Chess player)? I find that on-line play doesn't really do it for me.
Thanks in advance, K

I see what you mean: B118 on T7 (one below the played move) works. There was actually a problem on GoChild that had this motive. I'd better do that series again. Thanks for pointing this out!

KGS 10k-7k H3, with thoughts during the game
Although I did win this game, I'm posting it because:
- a lot of the time I had no idea what was going on
- I thought I was *way* behind, when in fact I was not
- I was outplayed locally several times
I added comments and thoughts that occurred during the game. Any comments very welcome!

Re: A beginner's journal of little interest
After the proposed cut at K17 on move 98, is there a concrete variation to White advantage? I guess B K18, W L17, B L18, W M17, B M18 are forced, but then? White can cut and probe at many points, but I haven't been able to string them together to a clear direct path. Or is it "just" free building up ...

Re: Study Journal: From 4d to 7d
This may be a stupid question, but in your loose ladder variation starting at move 92, can White not get out at the end, starting with G9?

Re: Recognition vs understanding
McDonald also strongly admires Nimzo's chess. But at the same time he accuses him of "too much unnecessary systematising in his books (I challenge you to find one player who knows the five special cases of the seventh rank)".
He later says, "it is possible to be both delighted and annoyed by ...

Thank you for the comments mitsun!
This could have hurt you many times in this game, if W had been a bit stronger. This was exactly the feeling I had during the game, but it was just a feeling, and I also couldn't prove it in variations afterwards as clearly as you did in your post. I'm still very ...

Re: First post - KGS game 13k - 14k with some analysis
Thanks for the comments and the lesson emeraldemon! I appreciate your point about posting lost games, and no doubt there will be plenty of those, but I don't get to play many games, so I'm planning to review pretty much all of them, and they're going to be riddled with mistakes anyway whether they ...

First post - KGS game 13k - 14k with some analysis
Hi all,
I'll do a proper introduction later. Trying to get back into the game after long pause. No idea what my ranking ever was though. I do have some Go books that I like to read, but family/job leaves me little time for serious games.
I've tried to give some of my thoughts during the game in ...
