Hi all -
Does anyone know the start time for the Ida-Iyama third game on April 14? I can't seem to find any info anywhere.

Looks like you should just go play it then. Let me know when you do - I'd love to watch!

Oh, never mind... the date listed at the Go News (http://igokisen.web.fc2.com/jp/oza.html) site for the Oza final is wrong... looks like 10/20 is now the date of the first match.

Re: Buying a go clock >.<
Just got the Meijin-sen today. It's a beaut. I would have gone with the Chronos as a nice heavy duty clock, but I really do like what I see in the Meijin-sen. So, here's the unboxing. I'm going to put up a review video too, and a visual instruction manual. The typed one at Sensei's Library is very ...

Not sure I understand why you seem to be taking offense. The statement is very likely to be true, and reflects more on the West's lack of interest in and exposure to go than the author's arrogance (which I don't sense at all in the article).

It seems as though the prices have come down - amazon.co.jp has the DIT-40 for under 10,000 yen now ($80!). I'm writing to ask if anyone knows of any additional distributors for the Meijin-sen clock (beyond Kuroki-san, who is still charging 11900JPY).
Amazon is the cheapest I found. I got mine ...

This is a very old thread - but I thought I'd ask here since the Meijin-sen clock has been mentioned several times in this thread.

Re: go equation
There are a number of significant issues with the original question. Among them is the most significant one - the idea that there is a single best move to be made given a board position. If there is not a single best, then this project will fail. One can re formulate the question, perhaps, but a ...

Re: Does playing Go become boring if you stop studying?
That the way it goes for me with Chess.
I play Chess rarely, don't study anything, and still enjoy playing the game...
Not so with GO, I really "feel" the need to learn... don't know why...
[DISCLAIMER, the puprose of this post is not to start a CHESS vs GO war Just a personal feeling...]

I suspect that moving the probabilities discussion to another thread is a good idea, but since I am not an admin I cannot.
Pippen, you are simply incorrect in your assertions. By the fallacious arguments you are putting forward, it is evident that you do not understand statistics and probability ...

single piece board - veneer, or something else
I don't think there's a veneer on that board.

About done with IGS
Karaklis seems finally to have caught my drift. It's not about losing games - I always learn something from losses, and that's good. My issue is also not about progressing - I know I am in part because my kgs ranking is moving up in a regular manner. The main issue is that when I'm playing a 16k or ...
