A 19x19 Discord channel?
Or perhaps 19x19 could just join with the subreddit's channel. I would love to see some more activity in there and have a chat room to organize games outside of a server and just to chat in.

Dealing with this fuseki and joseki
Ran into this and it flustered my opening in the game. I put my thoughts in the sgf

Re: How do you personally get out of a rut?
I can relate to you Leon.
I don't have a remedy, only a way to cope.
Somewhere during midgame, I (try to) take a break, so to speak.
Most often, time is not an issue. I (try to) take my time to sit back and look over the whole board again.
I think it has to do with not being able to being focused ...

Re: How do you personally get out of a rut?
"A player that attacks at 4 dan strength but reads at a 1 dan strength is still only a 1 dan"
First, if reading is your problem, then you just misread. Ç'est la vie.
Second, the quote is not true. It says that reading determines strength. Reading is important, but not everything. There are many ...

Re: How do you personally get out of a rut?
I do that too but I've got my eyes set on shodan and I feel like that would only set me back on that end goal :\
For sure, I understand your sentiment. I'm around 1d, and I've been there for a long time. I'd like to improve. Sometimes this drives me to study more, and try to break through.
But ...

Re: How do you personally get out of a rut?
Stop studying for awhile.
I was getting a little burnt out, so I stopped studying Go. I've played a few games since then, and they've been quite fun.
That's because the expectation to win is much lower, and you can simply enjoy playing the game. When you've studied and invested a lot of time ...

Re: How do you personally get out of a rut?
lol You are definitely right Bill It's a particularly grievous problem for me and I haven't figured out how to completely overcome it yet. The games are 250 moves long. I can keep control of it most of the time but it only takes one slip up.

How do you personally get out of a rut?
I've been in one. I've been losing "won" games left and right and it's always do to a single major blunder. I'm sure there are other errors with my play but I'm always clearly winning and then I make a single error of judgement or reading that ends up being extremely major. Today I was up by 20 ...

Re: 9k v. 6k Review request
Thank you both for the considerations in moves There may have been less to learn from the game specifically but I'm glad I asked. I have a bad tendency at overplay and I'm trying to curb it. I try to not play complacently but it causes me to not be able to tell what's giving too much and what's ...

9k v. 6k Review request
I won based on time and while I believe I still would have won were the game to be played out there were plenty of spots I feel I could have played better. The upper right I looked up afterward, I had figured out the joseki on my own up until he deviated. I think I made an alright continuation but ...

Played a Joseki correct my first time ever seeing it
I was playing a sequence in game and was unsure how I did in figuring out what I needed to do in the situation. I just looked it up and it looks like I found all of the moves on my own! It's not often that I try something new and I get it right on my first attempt without ever looking at it before ...
