Re: Ichiriki Tops Iyama on Mamumamu's Japanese Rating List

Oh really? He is no longer with the shogi player (I forgot her name)?

Congrats to him, and hope he can regain his usual form soon.

Re: 20th Nongshim Cup

@Uberdude: For the game Park vs Iyama. Can you help to continue the Lizzie analysis to see where did W collapse? The game looks still well balanced to me until W invade the low right corner. It seems Iyama overcomplicated the game and it backfired. Or was him already short in points before?

Re: 4th Bailing cup

I don't get why Ilya is invited to the amateur category. For sure the competition level might suit him more, but he's no longer an amateur!

Re: 4th Bailing cup

Interesting meta-point that it seems as if Iyama will play three games in three days, traveling from China to Japan then back to China, with the second game being do or die for keeping his septuple crown. m

The challenger Kyo Kagen also plays in this tournament (eliminated today by Dang Yifei ...

Re: 2018 Samsung World Masters starts

I'm impressed with the way W chose P15 in the top right joseki, then followed brilliantly with the ladder breaker at R9. Although W low right dragon dead in the end, he seems to get enough compensation with the top.

Not sure if there is a better alternative for C16, this seems to be the losing move.

Re: Shibano Toramaru

I can't find any game of Shibano vs Iyama in go4go.net (whereas he played Ke Jie and Park JH twice), is that true that they never met in official matches?

Shibano indeed is doing quite well. I hope that his style will be more balanced than Iyama. In his last B-League game, after the first 100 moves ...

Re: More success for women

Indeed, for Cho Hyeyeon, I would even consider her victory against Lee Changho last year a much bigger achievement (than being in the re-formated tournament this year).

As for female players in general, after Rui, I don't remember anyone did that well in fully "open" national or international ...

Re: Following Iyama Yuta (no world ranking discussions)

Well, perhaps it is because I am an Iyama's fan, but I believe he can do better in games with players of his strength, in other words international games. It is not only the result, but the way he was overplayed in recent games.

This time I might sound like by78, but the high ranking now is because ...

Re: Following Iyama Yuta (no world ranking discussions)

This is actually bad for Japanese Go. Iyama, not at his top form and somehow being overplayed in international tournaments, still can beat every challenge in Japanese fairly easy.

Actually living in the corner is the winning path. I don't really see any chance for Ke Jie after that.

Re: 19th Nongshim Cup

Glad to see Kim Jiseok back to share the duty with Park. Shin somehow still lacks of maturity and slipped in important games.
