Re: Yikeweiqi is coming

When you say "Windows and MacOS", you probably think of using Yikeweiqi from PCs. You can play games from a web interface (m) without any software installation, although that web page still requires translation.
But a translation of the webpage to english is planned? Because the server sounds ...

Re: Magics way up the hill

So i'm reactivating this thread. *vacuums dust*

Two years is a long time. If you read the last page you will see that i did a lot go-related stuff in 2014 and beginning of 2015. I kept track of how many games i played and was a member of yunguseng. The payoff from all that was ranking up to 1k.
The ...

Re: Ever take an extended break from Go?

When i started playing in 2002 for the first few months (6-8 actually) i was literally at work, eating, sleeping or playing go. Nothing else.

Since then i've taken some extended breaks from go.
In 2006 i only played some tournaments but no games online or going to the club. Whats interesseting is ...

Another Wedding and another Cake

You might remember this thread from a while back, with a nice wedding Go cake.

Well Ember and I got married last week and we also had a nice Go cake. We thought you might enjoy it. So here it is:

Re: Magics way up the hill

*blows off dust* It’s been a while since i posted here and that is for a reason. My go-motivation is on a long-time low again.

China Cup
Just after the last post was the china cup in Berlin. It was my second tournament i entered as a 1k and with a 3-3 i was quite satisfied.
Since it has been over ...

Re: Magics way up the hill

A bit over one month passed, so time for another entry.

My big winning streak at the end of february continued for the first half of march. I ended february with 11-3, that is a winning rate of 78%.

During the first two weeks of march it seemed this would continue, i had a winning streak of 8 ...

Re: back after 2years -- what changed for you afer a long b

I oppose it to the "flow" described by some where good moves comes naturally and in an effortless way (never experienced that)
Because i also had some difficulties with that in the past, i now take the "flow" not as "good moves come naturally" but "natural moves are good moves". I think when we ...

Re: Magics way up the hill

Feels like ages since i been here, but it was already a little over two months. I once wrote i didn't want to leave such a huge timegap here anymore, sorry about that. Time to recap december, 2014, january and february.

December 2014
Overall i have to say december was quite a slow month for my go ...

Re: back after 2years -- what changed for you afer a long b

Back in 2005/2006 i stopped playing for about a year. Not a total quit but i only visited a handfull of tournaments, no online-games or club activities.
I was 7k before that break, afterwards i quickly settled in as 4k. Maybe i was just doing so much before that break, that my mind needed the time ...

Re: Is a half point komi really fair?

The reason I'm saying that is because if there is a loser, than the moves the loser played simply weren't as good (i.e. didn't make as many points or didn't attack a group) or better than the moves his/her opponent played. If they were, then that person would have won the match.
I understood you ...

Re: Is a half point komi really fair?

I fail to see how you can lose the game and still claim to have made perfect moves. That 0.5 is something you have to account for throughout the entire game and if you can't do that then you clearly didn't play good enough moves to win the game.
And what about the other (winning) player? Your ...

Re: Magics way up the hill

Another month went by without any journal entry from me. Actually i didn’t want to have such a huge gap between entries anymore but it sort of happened, sorry about that.
But december was a non-go month for me until now, so not much to report has happened. Regardless this will be a long post ...

Re: Magics way up the hill

Go Journal Entry

Nearly a month since the last post, sorry about that. It’s not that i haven’t got the time, but somehow i was never in the mood to sit down and write another journal entry.
But i haven’t forgotten this journal and i still intend to update it (and yes, i still play go )

So lets ...
