You're quite welcome. As it happens, I tested a white stone.TKP wrote:Thank you for this information. If you don't mind me asking what color was the stone you had tested? If you read Chiyo Dad's website it sounds like lead was only a problem with the white stones.

Re: Warning, Yunzi Stones Are Dangerous To Health
Hi all,
I know this thread is a bit old, but I thought you all might be interested in an update. I received a set of yunzi stones as a gift at the end of 2013, and, upon reading this, tested mine with an at-home lead check from 3M. The results were inconclusive, so I sent the one broken stone ...

Re: kind of "best of" of all my worst play
Thoughts:
Move 12 -- don't kick here. Attaching to your opponent will only make him stronger in your territory. Kicking is best when either you have a stone around K16 (preventing your opponent from making a base) or your opponent has a stone around L17 (in which case your opponent will become ...

Re: Cgoban3 KGS and Linux
I've had a good experience with KGS on Slackware.
Install java (which is probably the biggest hassle now that Oracle doesn't let distros package it), then download the cgoban.jar file and run it with java -jar cgoban.jar.
Of course, there's still no sound to confirm stone placement . . .

Re: 24k vs 23k - fluctuating competence within a single matc
At this stage, by far the most important thing you can do for your strength is to play lots of games. Lose a bunch, and learn from them.
That said, here are some ideas for your game:
B13 - why not S18? If white takes S17, you can atari and capture.
B23 - I think you know from the result that this ...

Re: Warning, Yunzi Stones Are Dangerous To Health
Wow, thanks jlee for bringing this up. I myself recently received YMI Yunzi stones as a gift.
I'm also happy to see such a prompt official response.
Luckily for me, I don't make a habit of licking go stones, and lead exposure through skin contact is fairly safe.
As always, wash your hands before ...

Lots of snow in the DC and Baltimore area. I'm hoping the roads are cleared in time for this weekend's Chinese New Year tournament in Northern Virginia.

Thanks for your thoughts, EdLee. I suppose I was so concerned with pushing from behind that I didn't want to accept fourth line territory . . .

Re: 8k vs 6k
Thanks very much! I definitely see your points about moves 54, 62, 102, and especially the ko at 170. I'm not sure I totally understand your advice on move 85 (white's turn?), though. Did you mean I should have extended from the handicap stone one move 84 or 86?

8k vs 6k
Hi all,
I've been told that I should invite analyses on games where I feel I did well, since I'm less likely to be aware of my mistakes. Thus, I'd like to ask for commentary on this recent game of mine:
