Re: Suggestion for an electronic go board
I can see:
1. 360 unique RFI chips molded into heavy plastic stones.
2. Overhead projection with machine vision that detects invisible markings on the stones. Requires a stand and boom.
3. A robotic arm is a cool manifestation but remains impractical and the thing would be in the way.
4 ...

Re: Suggestion for an electronic go board
Thank you for the link! Interesting. Seems at least some of the work is already done. :-)
I have myself been a bit hesitant about the safety aspect of a laser, and tried to come up with alternative methods that's feasible for a DIY project. One such method is, as you mentioned, to put leds along ...

Re: Suggestion for an electronic go board
Thanks for your suggestion. I have checked a bit for a pan tilt system, but I have yet to find an affordable pan tilt with enough angular resolution. If the laser pointer is 3 meters away and you need to control the bright spot within +/- 2 mm you need a rather impressive angular resolution. If I ...

Suggestion for an electronic go board
I have an idea (hardly original) for how to build a cheap electronic go board. The setup consists of a standard go board, a smart phone app, and a small box containing a motorised laser pointer and a simple camera. The box should be placed high up, for example on a nearby bookshelf. The board is ...

Re: Android - Crazy Stone Deep Learning
I just got the ios version, and am really impressed by the weak Levels. They feel much more human than in the old version. A small minus is that you can't import a sgf without using a pc.

Thanks for the info. A iPad KGS client would really be cool.

Re: Go multiplayer
You are absolutely right, I stand corrected. This was released a few months ago, and apperently my knowledge was outdated.
After a quick glance I got the impression that an app can't talk directly with KGS over JSON, instead you need to set up a proxy server that translates. Is this correct?

Re: Go multiplayer
An iOS KGS client is unlikely, since KGS use a proprietarian protocol.
However, an android / iOS client for OGS is possible and could be a big improvement compared to the web interface. I have thought of writing such a client myself, using either xamarin or swift. Unfortunately it would take me far ...

Re: Most human-like Go computer config (preferably open sour
Crazy stone deep learning play very human like, at least at kyu levels. The weak levels has been trained on kyu level kgs games for this purpose.
But it's not open source. You have to either buy the pc version or use the ios/android version and buy server games (a few euro a month).

Re: Electronic go board
DalekSnare, this is about the same way I feel. A fun project, but it will take a more time than I'm sure I can spare. Reliable interpretation of a photo is a far from being trivial, and to interpretate a video is likely much harder.

Re: Electronic go board
HermanHiddema, you are most likely right. The image recognition doesn't sound like a very hard problem, but I guess I will understand it better after trying myself. So far I have just been toying with a pair of easy examples.

Electronic go board
Hi!
I have an idea for a reasonable cheap electronic go board. Instead of 381 sensors and 400 leds it should be enough with a camera, a small computer, image recognition software, and a motorized laser pointer. If the software if efficient enough to work on a raspberry pi it should be possible to ...

Re: How to record games on mobile with android
I have for a while consider to make an app that takes photos at a regular interval (maybe two a second), and translate them to a sgf file. Easy if you have good pictures, but I would like to work from a low camera angle and be able to handle hands blocking part of the board.
Perfectly possible, but ...
