Re: from 6 kyu to ...

Hi Avyssinica, thanks for your comments!

:b13: I think kicking here is an option because white can only get a two space extension from his two stone wall, but I hate the aji in the corner after the kick so I would probably just play your move.

I also thought about that. The reason I played from ...

Re: One Word for Good Go

my vote: Honesty
(captures so many aspects of "good" Go in my opinion, both in terms of your moves and your attitude)

Re: from 6 kyu to ...

At first, thanks Charles for your comment!

Just a few seconds I played a game which was quite interesting from my point of view in some aspects.
I tried to build a large center and somehow managed to do so, the question is at what cost?

Big vs. Small

Any comments and suggestions are ...

Re: OCA's log

Now for the "resign" game:

everything looks fine until :w12:

:b13: I don't like very much. You are correct that black has extended a little bit to far.
But it is too early to punish it for there are more urgent points.
I think enclosing your upper left corner looks very good now instead.

:b19: is ...

Re: OCA's log

Hi Oca, a few comments on the "win" game:

:w18: let's black get a solid corner because R14 is already in place. Your stone is weak and will have a hard time getting a base because it is also high.

After :b23: your group has no space for a home and can only run into the center or hope to connect to ...

Re: from 6 kyu to ...

@Loons, skydir and schawipp: Thanks very much for taking a look at my game, you already helped me very much!

At :b51: maybe consider F15, as black owed a move in the corner to prevent white from living there anyways, and this prevents the connection under. Whatever happens, don't let white run ...

Direction of Play

So here is my first game.
I played against a 2k with no handicap, slow time settings.
Of course I lost  But I felt quite okay until I failed to attack one of his groups properly...

What I am focussing on is the direction of my play, especially concerning the first 80 moves ...

Hello from Germany!

Hello and good evening!
I've been taking a look at this forum for quite some time now, so I think it's finally time for me to join :salute:

A few words about myself:
I'm 24 now, living in a small town in central Germany called "Bielefeld", student of mathematical economics and (of course) an ...
