Re: Detailed review of own games at London open
Uberdude - if you have time I'd be interested in seeing your thoughts on top left corner in game 3.

They might have stabilised, as I don't think I've seen the once traditional "why did we (UK players) lose most of our games in the London Open" inquests for a while...

Re: Detailed review of own games at London open
The third game seems to have a quite a significant drop in quality of play. It looks as if you were panicking a bit.

Re: Facebook is developing a Go AI
tydsh added a stronger DCNN only version, darkfores2. It's currently 3d(!). While not as high as the strongest bots, I'm very impressed that a neural net with no search whatsoever can get rated so high.

Re: (Too) Agressive?
I think John is suggesting that early approach is about trying to look intimidating and scary, much like a tattoed pit-bull owner, and that a calmer approach is more likely to lead to improvement. Checking pro games I see Seo Bongsu was fond of that approach and he is known for his aggressive style ...

He's one of the 'immortals' - those players whose names will live on as long as go is played.
His style is described in lots of different and sometimes contradictory ways (weak group strategy, fighter etc). A pro teacher once talked me through one of Sakata's games to show how Sakata liked to play ...

Re: Magical feeling when you lose a 9-stone game
The stronger you get, the harder it is to find people who will give you 9 stones... Enjoy it while it lasts.
It's a good attitude to enjoy the stronger player's strength, rather than to be disappointed by one's own relative weakness, as there'll always be stronger players ahead of you.

Re: 32nd Samsung cup main tournament
Game 2 is so interesting that on Chinese media people say it can easily become a candidate for the 'Game of the year' award. Another interesting question: is W18 the losing move? An early invasion soon developed into a half-board life&death problem. This is Igo Hatsuyoron kind of L&D. We amateurs ...
