Re: Anyone here use GoKifu to replay pro games?
I didn't know about that feature! I didn't do a whole game but got about 85% to move 90 of the most recent Chen vs Park game. I was maybe a bit smart in my guessing in that when I guessed wrong at a lull in play where you need to find the next direction to continue I wouldn't keep on guessing ...

Anyone here use GoKifu to replay pro games?
I'm curious if people use this to replay games regularly? I like to use it because of the Guess-o-Meter. You can play through the game and choose a move and if it's not the right move no stone is placed and you can see how close you are to the right answer. It also gives you a percent of how much ...

Re: Scheduled time for 54th Judan, 3rd game?
Can anyone explain what happened at the beginning of this game? It seemed Iyama Yuta played really poorly during the fuseki and made some mistakes. He got pushed down at the top early. And then after he invaded the upper right corner, rather than connect outside underneath reducing black's corner to ...

Re: AlphaGo vs Lee Sedol, who will win?
Does anyone know what's going on with AlphaGo? I thought we would hear something now if they had scheduled a match with Ke Jie. Are they still working on improving it at this time or are they moving on to doing something else with the AI they are developing?

Re: How to improve reading ability ? 1K+
I can solve problems where you have to read 10+ moves but in a game I think that I do not read more than 2-3 moves most of the time. I play relatively fast games on KGS (10 to 25min per player) so there is not much time to read. It would be better to play with 1 hour or more but on internet it is ...

Re: Questions about books on specific topics
Then postpone books about fighting:) You find reviews of some of the books at Sensei's Library or here by searching ("review" and the book title should help for a search).
There's also this post , which has a list of reviews by members here.
Thanks this was helpful. So no one has reviewed the ...

Re: Questions about books on specific topics
Hi Temp!
I have Cross-cut workshop but have only really flicked through the first couple of chapters. I have it as a SmartGo book which is great as you can actually play through the diagrams on your tablet. The books seem to be much cheaper if you buy them this way and are more convenient and ...

Re: Questions about books on specific topics
If anyone has any other suggestions or knows of any other books let me know and those subjects in the OP let me know. Ko would be another subject that's only touched on in some books. I know there are several books on ko though but not which is best.

Re: Questions about books on specific topics
Temp, although you have only recently restarted, you seem very eager to learn. You ask how good my joseki books are and how different from other books. Very good and very different - very good for those wishing to learn theory, reasoning, explanation and much of that. My books are the wrong choice ...

Re: possible to improve AlphaGo in endgame
Seems it has problems calculating when stones are surrounded and in a state of semeai. We saw it with that endgame sequence in Game 2 in the upper right where it threw away about 5 points when it elected to capture those stones in the center. I think it did so because Lee and AlphaGo had two sets of ...

Re: Looks like Go really is big in Asia!
I think it will be awhile before computer programs replace humans when it comes to teaching Go. Go is too complicated. I don't think computer programs can teach fundamentals or the abstract thinking required in playing Go. You'd also have to have the program point out the mistakes the player made as ...

Re: Questions about books on specific topics
Temp, you have interesting study goals and I wish I could recommend you specific books for your needs. E.g., I might suggest Joseki 1 - Fundamentals because it classifies types of moves and of their meanings. However, you want something deeper that studies every move type (of your interest) in much ...
