Re: 2023 AGM Agenda
Yes, I can't say that the hybrid meeting was a great success, and I hope they will figure out ways to improve it in future years. In his defence, Nicholas Roussos did make it clear beforehand that it probably wouldn't be possible for remote observers to participate in the meeting, and he made no ...

Irish Go Congress 2019
Have you ever fancied visiting Dublin? Only to spend the entire weekend playing go, and barely seeing the city at all?
The 2019 Irish Go Congress will be held over the weekend of the 22nd-24th of March at our old home of the Teachers' Club in the centre of Dublin. There will be two tournaments, the ...

Re: Cgoban being blocked in a future Java security update?
OK, I was able to delete the Java 1.7 plugin, and reinstall, and now things seem to be working fine.
On the way I discovered why I got that message about there being two versions of Java on the machine - although this laptop is reasonably new, and I'm running the latest version of the OS, when I ...

Re: Cgoban being blocked in a future Java security update?
You can try this: Open a command window, and type in the following command: javaws -uninstall -clearcache
OK, tried that, and got this response:
objc[410]: Class JavaLaunchHelper is implemented in both /Library/Internet Plug-ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/java and /Library ...

Re: Cgoban being blocked in a future Java security update?
Yes, I get the pop-up window to say that the application is downloading, but the progress bar never advances. Similarly, the applet just sits there allegedly loading (with the spiralling graphic around the Java logo) but never gets anywhere. Any notion what might be the issue? I tried disabling ...

Re: Cgoban being blocked in a future Java security update?
None of this is working for me, I'm afraid - I've added every exception mentioned in this thread but both the client and the applet just hang while loading. Has anyone managed to get this working on OS X Mavericks with Java 7.51?

Re: Slow games
I guess there's no club at your university or nearby? We rarely play with time limits in Dublin (unless it's a tournament game, or the barman has just called last orders) and most people can still get in a couple of games in an evening. If you've made the effort to go somewhere to play, you've ...

Re: UCC Go Tournament 2012 - Cork, Ireland November 17th-18t
I am unsatisfied with vague promises that we will "probably" go to a pub. Unless I am guaranteed several pints of Murphy's in the Oval, I'm boycotting this farce.

Are you still pretending that was a misclick? You're not fooling anyone.

Re: Automach modus evaluation
I think it works very well, especially for sluggards like me who don't play online very often and have trouble maintaining a solid rank, and it is rapidly becoming my first option instead of posting a game in the EGR.

Re: Possible Tournament?
If I'm inferring correctly from your post, you live in the US? There are probably more go players within a couple of hours drive of you than you would imagine - it would be worth doing a search on the AGA website to see how many members they have in neighbouring states. I think many players are ...

Re: Euro Team Championship match appeal
Yes definitely.
In the pandaGo-Client: Menu of the game window "edit" -> "Change Komi" -> enter "6.5"
Or type in the console "Komi 6.5"
The opponent has to accept the "new" komi in a little window with an ok button!
Well, a further problem was not being able to set the match conditions ...
