Re: Drinking 抹茶 (matcha)

I completely agree with DrStraw's feelings on the matter. The fact that you described the taste as bland or papery does not necessarily indicate you prepared it the wrong way. It sounds exactly like matcha.

I always have several different types of green tea at home, and matcha isn't one of them. I ...

I second the Alva Noto nomination. Actually, it sounds like you might enjoy quite a lot of the releases on Raster Noton.

The commentator from these videos is known to most as countsheep. He's a Chinese amateur player. You can find some info about him here:

I know a new month has arrived when I feverishly find myself refreshing this thread. Two days of F5 have paid off, thank you so much for your continued effort on this project.

Re: L19 / Eidogo on Tablet

I have had the exact same experience, and have therefore completely stopped looking at game records on mobile devices. If it's a game I really want to see, I'll move my posterior to the nearest computer, but I usually lose interest, just like you described.

Re: So it seems Sean Plott (Day[9]) is seriously interested

This is such great news. He is probably most-well known to newer starcraft players as the host of a show called the Day[9] Daily, in which he breaks down seemingly complex interactions within the game into simple to understand segments. He is a great commentator and analyst. Also, he did this: https ...

Can an experienced meditator explain me how it works?
Psychotropics help a great deal >:-) I really hope this is a joke. Taking drugs and mindfulness meditation are two separate things. Meditation is about experiencing your mind as it is. Drugs are about altering the way your mind goes about its ...

Re: Discipline

Nonetheless, something important has changed. During a game, when the thought appears: "You are such a lousy go player," I acknowledge it and get back to the game, and it doesn't branch out to: "that's because you're essentially too stupid." Then, when the game is over and I've lost, these thoughts ...

Re: Classic Japanese Go Books

I quite liked the マイコミ囲碁文書シリーズ:
- 一目の手筋問題集600 : compiled by Cho Chikun (well, it has his name on the cover)
- ノータイム詰碁360 ヨミからヒラメキへ
- ひと目でわかる「本筋・俗筋」対照表
These 3 books are the typical pocket-sized Japanese books: handy for reading on the subway. The content is pretty easy, a lot of the problems can ...

Re: Joseki

I share John's sentiment about the joseki he highlighted: it's a beauty. I studied it a little and played this in a game or two this summer, and the most important feedback I got from a professional after the game is that white should only play the contact move if she has stones in the other corner ...

Re: Sphere-Go

Congratulations on finishing your project. Both size and weight seem like a great success. I have to agree with Bonobo, however, that the visuals are very busy. It's quite a bit harder to focus on shapes than would be the case on a wooden board, mainly because the color of the grey magnet-spheres is ...
