Re: The future of online go tournaments
Is playing strictly according to the rules as Robert Jasiek famously did in a major amateur tournament cheating? Very many people did think so.
Fascinating, while you are here, could you tell me about this so called RJ case, or point me in a direction where I can learn something about it ...

The future of online go tournaments
In light of recent events I feel it is appropriate to discuss the future of online go tournaments. I am sure that while players want these tournaments they will continue. These are some questions I can think of that organizers of such tournaments and players may wish to ponder and perhaps resolve ...

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A
In this case (EWGC) the rules committee was not consulted at all, and indeed resigned when it found out about the matter. The appeal process was started during the tournament, but step 2 was never invoked since there was no appeals committee, and step 3 went to the wrong body. The exec should have ...

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A
It would be nice if Bojanic could play the "4 dan or 6 dan ?" game. I wouldn't expect 100% accuracy, but it would be interesting to check if at least he never confuses a 4 dan with a 6 dan or vice-versa.
Why don't we just find 1000 distractions and then perhaps the problem will just be forgotten ...

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A
I have updated previous analysis with Metta's EGC games.
Attached is updated paper (basically only part with EGC games, and conclusion) and all files used in research.
Thanks, great work and very much appreciated.

Re: Always fill the dame
I didn’t understand what was going on with that part. I can see your point that not picking up the stones might be an attempt at face-saving, but is choosing to leave stones on the board allowed by most rule sets? I thought one had to remove dead stones.
Leaving the stones or not has nothing to ...

Re: 4 dan or 6 dan? You decide!
So all this is is a waste of time, just like 99% of the babble around the topic of detecting online cheats.
I disagree, though I think your constant repetition of negativity is a waste of time.
And I think your negative comment is a waste of space. I am just trying to inject some sanity into a ...

Really? So how can you be sure that the game was in fact played by the player who says he or she is the player and not some other player or a computer?Uberdude wrote: These are games from old seasons of the Pandanet Go European Team Championship.

Re: Establishing a player's identity
And that, in my opinion, many players can recognize their own games because they know how they play.
I play a lot, and if you gave me some random game I played a year or two ago I could not positively identify that it was me playing. It would help me a lot to really know how I play. I might be ...

Re: Establishing a player's identity
How should I proceed if I wanted to establish a "fingerprint" of a player's style?
Has anyone ever reliably done this? Are you willing to put in the amount of work needed to achieve this? If you do it thoroughly I imagine that the amount of work might be comparable to a significant portion of the ...

Not really surprising, since what people say is often more about the agendas that they have than logic and common sense.Bojanic wrote: And even more surprising, some of the forum members who are not convinced about League A case, are optimistic about this one.

Re: Establishing a player's identity
I am the manager of Leagues C and D of the PGETC project. One of the teams in one of my leagues has been accused of cheating by player substitution. What I mean is that, according to the accusation, when player A was supposed to play, player B (who has a higher GoR) took player A 's place and used ...
