Is it possible to assess visits/s on a Mac and what value does one get on what Mac model? (Just curios. I am a Windows "fan".)
This is tricky, because KaTrain – as far as I know – prunes its search and therefore does 'more with less'. IIRC, the author said that this is why he doesn't have the ...

Re: New AI Computer
If having Windows as the operating system is not a requirement, a Mac mini is easy to recommend. For 750€ you get a silent computer that is more than powerful enough for daily use and running go AI (note: you need to buy a screen and peripherals separately). It may not be quite as fast as a RTX4000 ...

Re: What is the smallest miai value you can build ?
Having thought a bit more about these things, I wonder: what would you suggest as value calculation independent from the environment / situational factors?
Possibility 1:
Assumption of all moves of Black's and White's alternating sequences to have the same gain. Such occurs in a simple gote ...

Re: What is the smallest miai value you can build ?
I'll just drop this here. Hopefully this is enough to show why abstract value calculations should have nothing to do with situational factors such as who is ko master.

Re: Engame value of ko
In the ko in C if black connects, she has one point in L13, one point in M12. If white K14, white L13, then black answers M12, then white connects. Black has no point, white has one point and two prisoners. The difference is 5, and the tally is 1 + 2 = 3 (the l13-m12 exchange doesn't count).

Re: Pure Go
I featured 'pure go' in an NGD post back in May . The concept was quite familiar among Japanese professional players even before Ō Meien made it into a sellable product.

Re: Derived Metrics for the Game of Go
Now, we have a lot of data of strong human players not using AI to cheat, going back before AlphaGo. In addition, thanks to the Elf team and GoGoD, we have a lot of data of differences between human play back then and modern bot play. Yes, humans are learning a lot from the bots, and will continue ...

Re: Derived Metrics for the Game of Go
May I strongly suggest that you add an empirical researcher to your team? Without empirical validation it is easy to go astray. :)

Re: Derived Metrics for the Game of Go
Apparently, the scoremean is defined as a mean over all visited scores (at the leaves, I suppose) during a Monte-Carlo search. When correct subsequent play approaches a leaf, the scoremean can converge to strong human score prediction. So far so good. However, in the general case, which includes ...

Since you have worked for a long time on your tool, I wonder whether you do so as part of some task at university or is it purely your hobby?
At this point, the answer is kind of 'both'. Personally I am not affiliated with any university, but the Associate Professor I am collaborating with is (you ...

However, the process should be improved as follows:
- Human arbiters should have at least the same power as software in step (1), that is, also have the possibility to suggest initially suspicious games.
This is exactly how the process works. We generate graphs only to games that are brought to ...
