Re: Go is more fun with music in the background
Try some Goa music, i.e., https://www.boomfestival.org/boom2016/home/ . I find it very good when doing mental tasks like playing Go or programming.

I recommend searching for a local game evening on the homepage of your association (or on meetup.com or similar).

It may be wrong in the beginner joseki collection, which stands for a sequences where both players get an even result. Ok... granted.

Difficult to sit them down to play Atari game without explanation of liberty concept.
Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. Of course I meant also including the capturing rule. msgreg has explained it well and it's the way I explain it too. Especially the not talking too much part is not to be ...

Re: Playing other abstract board games?
Interesting to see HermanHiddema and Matthiasa mention the depth of go compared to other games as one of the elements that make it a better game. I see your point but yet im puzzled by what is exactly meant by depth? In principle these pure abstracts like checkers and reversi all have sufficient ...

As a beginner often plays handicap games, I'd propose the following.

Re: Playing other abstract board games?
Every couple of years I play a game of Othello, Gomoku & Co. (and I tried your game btw, very nice!). I enjoy a little bit the tactics and getting lost in calculating the position, but not much more.

Re: Nobody in my company interested in Weiqi
I second msgreg's approach. It's important to let beginners play (against each other, optimally) and not talk too much. Just say it's a fun game and has very few rules, sit them down and let them play a few Atari Go games. Real go can come later for those who get the game and enjoy it.

Re: Go commercial started
Regarding the German commercial, I hope to see some seconds of the complete board from above in the next video, e.g. a rapid progression of a (not chaotic) pro game. Those detail views look cool, but don't convey the beauty and size of the game imho.
Watching this reminded me of another commercial ...

Re: Hello!
Hi Thomas,
if you search for an introduction to the game I recommend the "interactive way to go" at http://playgo.to/iwtg/en as well as the really good wiki at http://senseis.xmp.net .
Have fun!

I'm KGS 1k/2k and feel I have no clue about the game. I know there is so much more to learn - and I hope it will never change.
