Re: Prokovich game

Please admit that it was an extremely conservative decision to edit my post.

Re: Prokovich game

I think i have a better sequence here.
This way W makes life right away and lets B worry about what to do about the marked stones.
Either way W will be able to reinforce the left side.

Re: Prokovich game

It looks like a hard fight to me.
If each side adopts the least compromising stance, I think it will go like this.
B can't use a keima at move 41 because even though B gets thick, W ends up with too many points.

Re: Prokovich game

I liked the double extension sequence with W 38 connecting via atekomi at 'a' or underneath. There is ugly kikashi left at 'b' so B probably needs to spend a move to defend that also.

Re: Prokovich game

Indeed, I can't help but wonder if white would bother with such a passive play for . I think that white can do more harm with below than black can with an unopposed .

Re: Prokovich game

I think B will play f6 next and that W will respond.
I don't think B can nullify the marked stones with move 33.

In the first diagram, B plays the kosumi for move 33.
W can play this sequence and get a ko with a-f
B gets to play p2 also but it looks too risky.

Re: Prokovich game

Maybe W wants to try this probe at 30 first before playing at f6.
If the position ends up like this W can have this ko sequence starting with 'a' later on.

Re: Prokovich game

I like the 'd' option at f6 also.

Seems like a good idea to try to make b spend as many moves as possible on the bottom.

I think it makes b overconcentrated alot. there is still q2 yose that is threatening to o2 connecting m3 stones and monkey jump on bottom.

Re: Prokovich game

if B connects at R6 and plays this sequence w needs to play 36 at Q2.
the cut at a is not a worry since W can play at b.
c is vital for b to live without capturing W 30.

W might play 26 here to avoid having to peep at a.

Re: interesting l&d from pro game today.

well thanks for your reply even though you seem to be somewhat mistrustful of me.

I did make a mistake in my first post though. it turns out that this is more of a yose problem than a genuine life and death problem.

But there is no correct solution #2. if b had played the wrong move i think w ...
