Re: Ing cup starts
If the komi is 8 points, how did two games end with scores of +4.5?
Best wishes.

This is turning out to be quite the awesome event!!!
All of the three players I rooted for are off to a good start with wins! I'm especially happy that Lee Changho beat Kong Jie. I'm so happy to see him back in action. The game felt very like his distinctive style of play and I'm happy to see it once again. It's also great to see Cho Chikun kicking some arse internationally. Strangely, Cho U is playing for Taiwan isn't he?

Cho U is Taiwanese, although pro from Nihon-kiin. I am confused if he is playing for Japan or Taiwan. trout wrote Japan, but I also read somewhere (Gogameguru?) that he is representing Taiwan in this tournament, which makes sense to me actually.

wbaduk is showing his flag as Taiwan and Cho Chikun's flag as Japan. Both are immigrants to Japan, so it is interesting.

Re: Ing cup starts
How many seats does Taiwan have reserved at the tournament? It would hardly be shocking if Ing wanted strong ROC representation, and if the Japanese/Taiwanese players were allowed to compete for those slots.

Re: Ing cup starts
It's not unprecedented for immigrant professionals to play for their native country. I can't remember circumstances but it's happened before for Cho, and for some professionals there has been a bit of grousing.

AFAIK Cho U is still A Taiwanese citizen. Cho Chikun is a naturalized Japanese.

I am pretty sure top professionals don't underestimate their opponents that much. Free ticket, that is rude.

Re: Ing cup starts
That is not what free ticket means here. It means that a player will lose deliberately.
