Sgf Management For IPad
So when I go to china this summer, I plan on recording all my games. So I need an sgf editor to manage all my files. I need to be able to edit metadata. Smartgo kifu is ok but I dont have any way of transferring the sgf files between my iPad and computer. Really ive found that the only benefit for me on the iPad right now is smart go books. Does anyone now of a good iPad app or method that will allow me to sync sgf files between my computer and iPad. Honestly, switching to android is a possibility right now.

SmartGo Kifu lets you send an .sgf in an email: from a listing of games, tap the envelope icon in the lower left corner. I don't know if there's a way to import a game into the app, though.

Re: Sgf Management For IPad
You can use EasyGo, in addition to send by email (or zip a huge number of games and send by email), you can connect your iPad to iTunes and use file sharing to take anything from it. I don't think I checked, but I guess SmartGo Kifu also has iTunes file sharing.
Also, why do you want to transfer files from the device to your computer? All editing needed can be done with EasyGo (or SmartGo Kifu) without problems.

I use EasyGo. You can up- and download files via iTunes. If I have an SGF link on a web page, I can download it in the Mercury browser (supports fullscreen) and open it in EasyGo.
EasyGo also displas a variation tree - which is a must for me.

Re: Sgf Management For IPad
Opening/transfering sgf into smartgo kifu or EasyGo is done in the same way like opening any file in any app on iOS, just touch sgf file (in other app, in email, on internet browser etc.) and wait a second - menu will appear and you will chose every app capable to receive this file.
You can use e-mail option to get needed sgf file from SmartGo / EasyGo to your pc.
Hmm, it seems you don't have much experience with files managing on iPad, and you strongly want to use cable or USB pendrive/flashdrive for moving files. Why not by WiFi? I strongly recommend GoodReader for managing files - it has options to connect / sync / download / upload files from cloud based servers like Dropbox, Box, SugarSync. You can use Goodreader to move files between netbook and ipad via WiFi - you touch one icon in GoodReader, a temporary local internet adress appear and voila - you can easly transfer files from your desktop to ipad using any internet browser. If you can't use WiFi then use cable and use itunes to transfer your files to/from Good Reader - it's easy, and not much harder than using any file browser on pc.
[Edit]...I just have found that GoodReader does not recognize sgf files from other apps :/. You can still store sgf's there, you can move files from it but you can't open sgf file there from other apps. So however I think it is still good to have GoodReader for PDFs and SGF library but to get sharing sgf file option via iTunes I would use iCab Mobile - graet iPad web browser with file download/upload(!) option & with iTunes sharing option, and with ability to receive sgf files from other apps.
So my Go workflow/sgf transfer on iPad looks like this:
From PC to iPad - online: e-mail, GoodReader, Dropbox or any other cloud service. Offline: iCab Mobile

It doesn't appear to.

What's better in general, Easygo or Smartgo Kifu?

They're very different programs. SmartGo Kifu is better for recording games in my opinion, but EasyGo is far better for problem set management. So ideally you want both.

Agree with Boidhre. I use both. For reviewing and own-game commenting, EasyGo because of tree view. For professional records, recording games quickly and reading shallowy commented files, SmartGo

Re: Sgf Management For IPad
If you plug your iPad into your computer, there is a documents drive that gets mounted, and SmartGo Kifu's sgf files all show up there.
It even works on Ubuntu now.

Not unless you use third-party software, and/or jailbreak it. In a stock configuration it does _not_ do that.

Re: Sgf Management For IPad
As I've said other places before, I'm not an iPad user so I don't know if this directly applies -- but can you just select all your sgf files on your iPad and push them via bluetooth to your computer? That's how I do any file management I need between tablet/phone/computer and it avoids having to use any other apps / workarounds.

Re: Sgf Management For IPad
Game recording works fine with EasyGo, too. And if you review the game afterwards with a strong player, will soon come to appreciate the variation tree.
