Korean Baduk TV with english subtitles

Post by C. Blue »

As far as I know korean baduk tv is a pay channel in Korea.

I'd like to know what people would be willing to pay for receiving such a channel in the western world (via internet presumably) and with english subtitles so they can understand what's being said there.

I have no idea how much monthly payment would actually be required for korean tv stations to make such a project pay off, so it's a poll just for fun really, without any claim on realism. ;)

Edit: I think the pricing I assumed was wrong, and might rather have been a fee of a (questionable) reseller, so I removed it. No idea what it really costs.

I'd be willing to pay 25 a month. I got a day pass to watch it (via Ch-Bee) and I thought it was great. The quality of the broadcast during games is absolutely awesome. And I love the way they use the mouse to simulate possible moves.

If this were in English, I think it'd be an incredible deal. Especially with all the commentary that goes on.

I don't think it makes sense to translate the whole stream. Subbing parts and selling them as VoDs makes more sense IMO. That way each subbed piece gets more viewers.

Never apologise for the commercials; as you say that is what makes the program possible!

I have been watching baduktv on my iPad and enjoy it very much. I live in Japan and think that the baduktv technology (the overlay of the commentary variations directly on top of the live board) is much better than what is done on Japanese tv programs. Also the overall production values are simply better.

I was impressed with how much additional information comes through with the dubbing. I was particularly interested in the comments on the players, their state of mind, and the high number of yose mistakes through time pressure, etc. Please keep up the good work!

Hehe, I was just trying to make a joke. Insurance commercials are popular at certain times of the day...
