Middle of the class, I'm a firm 10k :)

I'm glad to have felt 4th game was not what it seemed to be :)

Edit : ah no, I looked the ranking reverse of what it was, so I totally mistaken last game (I didn't remember). Still middle of the class anyway :)

YAY :D

first of all congratulations to adoreme. Nice work. on average less than 1 stone from their true rank. Very impressive.

I'm also very happy to see I'm in (shared) second place. :D
Of course I hoped to be close, but I did not aspect my guess to be this close.

Well done adoreme! Also thanks for the analysis tj. (9d=pro for the purposes of scoring according to the original post)

I found it very interesting that people did worst on the pro games. Obviously proof that we just don't understand enough yet!

Thanks for running this Araban.

Actually I found the pro games easiest to pick out of all the games. I think amateurs are harder to tell apart especially at kyu-level it is a real guessing game.

I'd be curious whether there is a correlation between rank and guesses, whether it's that stronger players guess better (or worse), or that people are likely to think that games are within a few stones of their own level, or whatever. I didn't spot any obvious patterns right off the bat.

one question on the game #3
you say they are 4D
are they KGS ranking?
if it is ...they must very very weak 4d.
i can spot many mistakes and i am only 3 dan.
4D i played in KGS (although few) are stronger than them two.

I knew the second game was pro! xD Guess I need to learn not to second-guess myself. ;) I'm pretty surprised at my result though, didn't think I did that well. :)

Congratz to adoreme, hope to participate in the next contest! Thanks to araban for hosting.

Well, as they say, you are 2 stones stronger as an observer :). And yes, it is KGS ranking.

Pretty sure most people would gladly accept this. As for the prizes and what not, I don't think it's a requirement for this thread. I can understand it add some more incentive, but it also seems a slight drain if you add prizes every single time you make a thread like this. I would suggest trying to time the prizes at once per month basis(or if that's too much, once every few months until you get tired of doing it). Ideally, it would start at the beginning of the month, and then you'd reveal the answers around the middle of the month(or faster if there is a high demand, and the thread has stagnated.)

Also doing this, is voluntary. Never forget that. I don't mean to put added pressure. I apologize if it does.

Let's have a series - maybe 5 in total, each two weeks apart, with 5 games. So there's a grand total of 250 points up for grabs?

I like the idea of a series of these :)
