To believe that it happened, we have to believe that a bot
1) Manages to place ~180 stones without making a live group.
2) Continues to play even when tens of thousands of points behind.
3) Allows each side to make one contiguous group.

I'd assume it was a primitive bot with a very limited set of responses. I can't imagine any reasonably modern bot would be that hapless.

My game is now up to move #463. Has anyone personally exceeded that?

I once played a game with my brother which lasted about 550 moves, deduced from the amount of prisoners exchanged. I had told him that if there is a triple ko, the game is "no result". He then made lot of single ko's, which I won one by one.

It was IdiotBot or similar: one of those that plays randomly and then likes to run around the first line in atari. Once it has some stones in atari it will keep playing out doomed ladders so is very predictable. Maybe he used undo if the bot spoilt the required pattern in its random move phase.

I had a friend, who is now on the road the becoming a grandmaster of chess, I played alot. He was by far the most agressive player I met, if anything could be attacked. We played in a tournament I held and it was 1 hour no byomi. He litterally only lost by time out. I eventually beat him soundly in a game arranged by our teacher, by forcing him into mistake driven positions. He got so greedy, and wanted everything you could have, he realized chess is the only game he is good at; he just can't get the concept of compensation. Last time I heard from him, he had one a nation wide tournament, and his floor is 2000.

I think my personal best is around 300. Although I seem to recall playing a 38x38 one time, which we didn't finish.

And another one sorry that uberdude can't find that huge game right now. Pity, would have liked to have seen it.
