Needed: One white clam shell stone for a kid.

Post by Iceman »

Hi all,

I haven't really been on Life in 19x19. Sort of fell out of the forums thing when godiscussions disappeared.

In any case, can anyone tell me where I can get 1 (one) white clam shell stone in nice shape (no chips or scratches)? I need it for a student of mine (I am a public school teacher who teaches go). I gave such a stone (received from a Japanese company as a sample) to a student years ago. His mother has come to me frantically because she lost it (thinks she threw it out cleaning his room while he was at camp). The kid is now heart broken and in a slump. Anyone know of vendors who would sell a single stone?

Thanks,
Vincent

Mom threw out his stuff...presumably without asking him? IMHO, she should show him some respect and buy him a whole new set.

Iceman, Mr. Kuroki sells sample sets in units of 10 (both clam shell and slate stones).

Here is a link to the page on the Kuroki Goishi Ten web site where replacement stones are listed: http://www.kurokigoishi.co.jp/onlinesho ... index.html Unfortunately it is in Japanese but you can email them and ask in English and they will respond. You would need to know how thick the missing stone was if you want to replace it exactly.
