Just thought of something that is not quite a proverb, more a humourous Go term:
Ghandicap- when you avoid fights with a weaker player, instead of giving him stones at the beginning.

(This refers to playing a group until you know that is dead.)

I will assume that they do not teach english at that school, so please, let me show you a little piece of grammar:

You are not really dead until you can taste the dirt in your mouth.

Yes, "you are" can be shortened to "you're" (the "a" is omitted and replaced by an apostrophe while running the words together).

"Your" is a possessive pronoun. Pronouns never have an apostrophe in them: "my", "your" (ancient: "thy"), "his"/"her"/"its", "our", "your", "their".

Last year, I had a target to lose a stone in one sense and gain one in the other. Drinking alcohol, unfortunately, promotes both these ideas, but the wrong way round ...
