My opinion is that this thread is a violation of the TOS.
I'm locking it. MW, please look in your PM box.

I strongly disagree with your opinion.

It should be perfectly valid for someone to ask how to censor someone (even if they don't know that's what they are asking, or if they've asked it impolitely). It is a feature of these forums.

I've had to censor a few people on here in the past, because there are a couple of folks here who just plain rub me the wrong way -- and Robert has never been one of them actually (though I do skip over some of his posts).

But different people irritate other people differently. And this forum offers a way to deal with it, that many people may not know.

Admins who lock or split threads irritate me. But I'll get over it eventually.

The type of censorship of putting somebody in a user's private ignore list differs from the type of censorship of letting some OP censor a user by prohibiting his participation in the thread.

Which type do you mean? You sound like you consider type I ok while you wonder why a thread about type II has been locked (for probably a different reason).

Please be aware of the following quote from the forum rules and kindly refrain from disrupting other member's enjoyment of the forum:

8. Disagreements
If you have a problem with another member, or if you disagree with something that a mod or an admin has done, please do not air your grievances on the forum. That disrupts other member's enjoyment of the forum. Instead, send a PM to an admin. ( We're the ones with our names in red )

IMHO the actual problem here is not asking for that feature to be able to lock sb out of a thread, it is in spelling out the name of the person he wanted to lock out, which is: publicly dissing that person.
