I didn't hear about computer Go for a while... what's up? Any match between pro players and engines? Any new engines? What level do the best engines play now?

KGS continues to hold monthly computer go tournaments, which can give some idea of what engines are strong now. As for the level of play, you can always look at the sgfs:

TAAI is going on right now. There will be computer vs computer tournaments in 9x9, 13x13, and 19x19. Winners play vs a pro on November 17.

Zen has won the 9x9 already, and it should be the favorite to win the 19x19 also. So far Zen has a record of 2-1 taking 4 stones against pros in 19x19. For TAAI it will once again be 4 stones. Maybe there will be a rematch of Zen vs Chun-Hsun Chou (Zen took 4 stones and won last time).
