Edit: Just watched it elsewhere. The episode was pretty weird, but the Igo Soccer match was hilarious!

Glad you found it! I forget that online licensing only works in the same country. (And all the episodes are weird. ^^)

Previously on 천추태후 (千秋太后) aka The Iron Empress, we saw very primitive Go boards with irregular "found" stones being used for playing pieces.

Episode 35 shows a royal charachter not only using proper stones, but playing on the coveted 6 Brothers Turtle Board.

The Iron Empress is on Drama Fever and Hulu. This scene starts around 13:12 of the episode.

Okay this is a bit of a stretch. But in this article on the NPR website there is a particularly familiar icon in image #8. Anyone recognize the setup?

In 后宫甄嬛传 (Legend of Zhen Huan), Go shows up every few episodes as it is the game of choice that the Emperor likes to play with the Duke and his favorite concubine. I just wish they would show the board more clearly so I can see if it's a legit game :(.

In this presentation video about Board Gaming's golden age, you can see an old picture of Go being played. It's a very brief slide, and not mentioned by name, but as a part of the concept of boardgaming being a part of human culture for a long time now.

I didn't read the entire thread, so I hope this hasn't been posted yet. But If it hasn't, it should be.
A Beautiful Mind had a go scene. Russel Crow gets upset when he loses, storms off and claims the game is flawed because he had the first move and still lost.

A friend of a friend posted this in Facebook:

She commented "意外なお趣味が(笑)" which I believe is "Doraemon surprises us (laugh)", but can't be sure(google translation).

Hey nice find. Btw, I would translate that as "a surprising hobby (lol)"

Google translation said "hobby surprises us", and I assumed hobby was doraemon's name in the japanese original, stupidly.

Maybe not mainstream but the famous Jon Shafer (computer game designer) wrote an article mentioning Go:

Kind of a lame sighting, but in the anime Mawaru Penguindrum there's a floor board in one of the character's rooms.
